I had a road accident that collided with an animal in highway, causing damage to the car(dented hood). I didn’t buy insurance prior to and during picking up the car. However Policy of the insurance isn’t clear in terms of making up for the loss and repair. It turns out to be not optimal for a situation like this to go as long as it did to let me know how much I am going to pay as I am a traveler and leaving soon. Rental Car From HellPros:It was the right size.Cons:Wait time was very long picking up the car, they seemed under staffed. The electronic and USB connections were not working! Therefore our phones would not charge and our GPS systems would not work!! The GPS system in the car was stuck on demo mode and kept shutting off after about two minutes. Navigation was a nightmare! They also failed to tell us that the gas cap lid was a spring loaded push plate, so we wasted a lot of time looking for a release lever before we figured it out.Reviewed 30 Jul. 2017

Pros:The car was very nice - clean, newer and worked well. Drop off was easy.Cons:1. When we picked up the car, the driver had to be the name of the person who made the reservation. I had intended for my husband to be the driver, but since I had used my own name for the reservation, I had to be the driver, which I was not comfortable with. We have never before had this experience and we have rented many cars in the past. We were told the only way to change the driver is to cancel the reservation and start all over again with a new reservation. As we had arrived at 9pm and it was getting late and we had had a tiring long day, we did not want to start all over. 2. Another thing we found annoying was that there were $103 of additional taxes and fees we had to pay upon pick-up that we were not advised of when we made the reservation. When I reserved the car on line, it was because Hertz seemed to have the lowest price. With the additional $103 that we ended up having to pay, it was probably the most expensive of all of the companies. And this was not for additional insurance or anything like that. It was taxes and fees slapped on. The attendant said it had been in the small print. Again, we have never before had this experience with a rental car. Usually, the price you see in the large print is the price you pay and no more. Because of this, we would not rent from Hertz again.Reviewed 19 Jun. 2017

Pros:I liked that they had the vehicle we needed available. The vehicle was clean. The pick up went well.Cons:They said using my insurance was ok. Didn't explain that they would refuse it if something happened. We had a small chip in th corner from a rock that was thrown from a pick up in front of us. We filed a claim. When we returned the car she wouldn't talk to us about it just kept repeating no third parties no third parties handed me a bill for$250 and wouldn't explain anything. Refused. Horrible customer service and we will not be using hertz again.Reviewed 12 Jun. 2017

Stole $340 from me.Cons:I had authorized $57 to be paid at time of pickup. After returning the car, Hertz charged $395 to my credit card for "detailing". Disputing.Reviewed 26 May 2017
