#9 off-the-beaten-path destination

British Columbia

You’re going to love Prince George

Located on the Fraser and Nechako rivers, Prince George provides outdoor adventure on and off the water. Head to one of the area’s stunning parks for plenty of fun in the sun. Cottonwood Island Nature Park offers river-fronted hiking trails and a pretty view of the historic rail bridge. Keep your eyes peeled for the faces in the trees along the river.

Hacker tip

If you want to travel beyond town, Eskers Provincial Park is a favorite for hiking well-defined trails – the Friendship Trail Loop is a moderate hike along a 7.4-mile trail. The park also offers a look at local wildlife (a viewing platform provides a lookout at the variety of birds and mammals living in the area wetlands).
