So you want to travel across Europe with stops in Paris, Rome, Brussels, London and Amsterdam, but where do you even start? Which country would make the most sense as the jumping-off point? And from there, should you fly between countries, or is it cheaper to take a train? Creating an itinerary that orders the destinations in justttt the right way can be overwhelming – which order is actually the cheapest way to do it?

Enter KAYAK Trip Builder – a new product feature that makes planning a multi-city trip easy. The tool quickly calculates the cheapest route between multiple cities for the biggest savings. KAYAK is the first and only metasearch to support this product globally, giving travellers more options to design a trip that fits their needs and their budget. The initial launch is powered by Kiwi.com, an online search engine that combines flights and ground transportation options.

To book your next multi-city trip using “Trip Builder” on KAYAK in 5 easy steps:

  1. Head to www.ca.kayak.com and switch the dropdown menu from “Round-trip” to “Trip Builder.”
  2. Browse popular multi-city trip templates or start creating your own.
  3. Choose your origin and all the places you want to hit, including how long you want to stay in each of those places. If you’re flexible, include a range, which can result in additional savings.
  4. From there, our Trip Builder does the work for you, calculating the cheapest route.
  5. Book and go!

While KAYAK has offered multi-city search since 2005, Trip Builder takes all the guesswork out of planning. Before Trip Builder, you’d need to research itinerary options and flight costs, compare prices of flights and trains between countries and cross your fingers you’d found the cheapest route. But with Trip Builder, you don’t have to question it – you’ll know. And with all the time you save, you can stop worrying about getting there and start thinking about what you’ll do when you arrive.

So, what’s the answer to the itinerary above? Well apparently, from Toronto, Trip Builder reordered the proposed destinations – Paris, Rome, Brussels, London and Amsterdam – and provided an itinerary – first stop London, last stop Paris, with flights between cities for all but one (a 3-hour bus would travel from Amsterdam to Brussels). The round-trip price from Toronto? $728.
