I paid over $200 for seat selection for these flights and I was still stuck on long international flights in seats that do not recline and do not have the head support cushion. At this point basically all airlines have those for all seats, and this really took me by surprise and made me not ever want to travel on Avianca. The Kayak agent who called me for the seat selection (Donovan) was courteous, but it seems the system for this doesn't work. I was offered seat selection, for the $200+, but without being able to see what I was selecting, with no guarantee where I'd be...and then I still ended up in terrible seats. On my way to, and especially after, a very intense business trip, the seat situation really soured my experience.

They charged me $120 to check one bag and then charged me another $120 for a carryon. Ridiculous!
Worst airline , charge for everything even for water, seat space is very bad
Horrible. I have been trying to speak to a representative to know why I was over charged but I get redirected to AI Vianca everytime with no results. Is there an agency that oversees airline gouging? I will never fly or recommend Avianca to anyone not that you care.
Felt very cramped in the back of plane. There was an hour delay for take off sitting on the runway, but we did arrive on time. They charge $120 for carry on bag and backpack at the airport its ridiculous.
Charging for WATER on a SIX hour flight in repugnant. Enough said!
Worst in 25 years. A 10 hours flight from Buenos Aires to Costa Rica and no free food! Then the food available for purchase was sold out in 5 minutes. I was travelling with two kids and wasn't ready to keep them happy with chips and cookies for such a long time. Avianca doesn't make sure that minors sit next to an adult so I was forced to pay 65 USD for each seat in a so called premium seat whic is exactly the same as the economy free seats. Never again with Avianca.
Horrible. They canceled several flights and kept pushing us to different flights. We were 12 hours in the airport with no compensation and not even a single apology.
Flight delayed by an hour and 5 mnts, missed my connection from Ccs to porlamar, had to stay over night hotel cost and new tickets.
I was shocked flying to El Salvador that they only give you water. Everything else you have to pay for. There is no wifi or entertainment and it’s an international flight. At least back in the day they had tvs on the plane and everyone watched the same movie. Also seats do not recline, even comfort or plus.
