FAQs - booking Florida flights

  • Do Canadian citizens need a visa to visit Florida?

Canadian citizens typically do not need a visa to enter the United States. You will need to have your valid passport and you may be asked to provide proof of onward or return travel, although this is unlikely.

  • What are some common layovers on the route from Halifax to Florida?

At this time, there are no direct flights between Halifax and Florida, so your flight will have one or two, and sometimes even three, layovers. The locations of these will depend on your airline and your destination airport. Those flying from YHZ to Tampa (TPA) with Air Canada will have a layover in Toronto (YYZ), while those flying to TPA with Porter Airlines will have a layover first in Montreal (YUL) and then at Toronto (YYZ). Those flying to Miami (MIA) with Air Canada will stop either at Montreal (YUL)or Toronto (YYZ). If you are flying to Orlando (MCO) with Air Canada, you will stop at Montreal (YUL) and those flying with Porter Airlines will stop either at Toronto (YYZ) or in Ottawa (YOW).

  • What can I do to make my flight from Halifax to Florida more eco-friendly?

Those concerned about sustainability while traveling should try to book a flight with the least amount of layovers to cut down on fuel use during takeoffs and landings. In this case, you can choose a flight with just one layover. Also, consider flying with Air Canada, as they are one of the most sustainable airlines flying between Halifax and Florida.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from Halifax to Florida?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from Halifax to Florida.

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional round-trip ticket. You could then fly to Florida with an airline and back to Halifax with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from Halifax to Florida?

United airlines was top for my last trip in every way

Horrible; seating was atrocious - inadequate leg room and seat width tight even for a small individual. Profits shouldn’t be everything!

Connection coordination with Star Alliance partner could be better. Lots of check in setup was not interlinked between operators.

There was no room in overhead bin to place our luggage despite we had tree seats. It means a lot of people had more than 1 carry on bags. When I asked a crew member to help she said that it was not her responsibility.

Your seats in the last 5 rows are terrible. My knees were jammed into the seat in front of me and the lady sitting there decided to recline it. Jammed my knees bad. I don’t know if I’ll fly United again.

Delayed over an hour due to paperwork not being filed correctly. Forced to change planes.

The plane used to go to Chicago was a bit outdated and needed a refresh

My connecting gate in .Chicago was across the aisle from my arriving gate. Otherwise I would not have made my connection. So that was very fortunate.

I flew basic economy, so it was what I expected. Crew was nice though, and flight was quick. Would recommend for flights under 6 hours, otherwise would upgrade to something with more leg room.

Bad, they delayed my flight, lost my connection flight had to stay overnight for the next flight and missed a lot of important meetings. 1 day totally lost!

Agent checking me in was great. Plane was nice. Problem was with the handling of my fragile check in. They damaged my steel drum, waiting to hear back from them to see if they will take any responsibility. Think twice about travelling with something fragile, they don't seem to treat it any different than normal luggage

I had a problem checking in as I didn’t have the correct code. I had to phone BudgetAir.com. They charged me an additional 174US for some tax or something in order to provide me with my booking number. I will never use a third party seller again. Absolutely criminal activity. But I did get to where I wanted to go

Still sitting in a hotel when I'm due for work

The whole problem of being denied boarding on flight I had ticket for having to sit in airport for 5 hours and not offered drink or cup of soup at that hour which was dinner time and did not leave until 11 PM

My trip was two parts flying from Canada to ATL then to PNS I had confirmed seats with tickets at boarding in Canada and bags tagged for said flight. Got to ATL got help to plane before boarding ended and was told at the gate that I had no seats on this flight even though I had tickets that said so I was told by a supervisor with Delta that I was booked on flight 5 hours later not the one on my ticket had to sit in ATL not knowing if my bags were on flight I was booked on or the one I was told at the gate for 5 hours later or even if I would have seat on that flight as seats were to be assigned at gate. Will never recommend West Jet product and am not sure about Delta any longer and had never booked thru Kayak for flight before and will probably never again and will be sharing my experience with who ever will listen to me about it to warn them to avoid the problems I went thru.

Terrible experience at the gate. Charged for carry on luggage despite them meeting the requirements for sizing.

It was not clear that a shopping bag with gifts would need to be checked. Lucky that my friend checked her carry on so that she could take mine on. It contained fragile items ( and expensive). Plus they charged me $100 for that last minute change.

Never been on a long haul flight that didn't have on flight entertainment. I hope the way back is better !

It was fine for a low cost trip. No entertainment and poor food offer. The sits were ok. It was on time.

Seat barely reclined. Boarding took forever. Flight attendants were not very friendly

The flight went very smoothly, the staff was friendly and very helpful and the pilot flew the plane really, really well. Take off, landing were great and a smooth flight in between!

No issues with the flight and flight crew. cleaner seats in economy section would have been better

The experience was pleasant overall, but my row was entirely missed by the snack / drinks service and the audio port for the entertainment only worked for one of my headphones due to a defective audio jack.

flip down table not clean, lots of crumbs left on table from previous customer!

Ok, a very small soda in a small glass was all that was served. Pitiful. Comfort seat was not, no legroom at all would not recommend comfort class, not worth the extra.

terrible delay then had to change planes then delay again

Flights were pretty much on time. Food was the smallest bag of pretzels, movies available on the 2 hour flight but not the 4 1/2 hour flight. You have to pay for your checked baggage, not even the first one is free.

There was no entertainment on board and wi-fi did not work for me. Food consisted of beverage and pretzels. Flight was over 2 hours delayed due to unscheduled maintenance. We missed our Toronto connection. Air Canada rebooked us for the next day. We had purchased premium seats but our rebooked flight was nearly full and we did not sit together. Seats were way in the back of the plane. Air Canada did provide us with a hotel stay. Agent upon deplaning told us luggage would be sent through to our final destination. Customer service person told us our luggage would be at the carousel. It never showed up, so we lost an hour waiting for it, already well past my bedtime by now. My husband has limited mobility. Baggage agent advised us the luggage did, indeed, get placed somewhere for our next day flight and provided us with an overnight kit (shaving kit, oral hygiene kit, sleep shirt, etc.) and it was very much appreciated and needed. Husband has mobility issues and we found that wheelchair assistance is not provided during layover stops, which made it difficult (and slow) for us to get from gate to customer service to baggage claim to hotel shuttle. We were given food vouchers but were too exhausted to use them before going to hotel. For the most part, all agents we dealt with were respectful and pleasant, although only a few were as warm, friendly and helpful as most of the Canadians we had interacted with during our visit.

We were delayed. Only got 1 snack. Seats were comfortable in preferred seating.

Great crew dealing with the most unprepared family with a million kids and zero sense.

We were disappointed not to be able to buy out preferred seat from date of my original booking, which was about 40 days before the trip. When we arrived in Hannover on the Oct 10 I tried every day and the weed site said I have to wait until ck in, did that and still was not able to. Get to the airport and out seats were separate from each other. The crew was able to get seats together, was not the most comfortable. Don’t understand why this happened.

Actual flight was smooth but we were delayed 70 minutes. Were promised to make it up to us but were given no refreshments

I had handicap and pre board due to a recent broken arm, was made to find my own help placing carry on baggage in the storage above. My tv and entertainment unit did not work correctly, requested help and it took 30 minutes to get help, she did not fix it or come back to see if it was fixed. I went to her a second time and she did another reset, still did not fix.

Did not fly HOU to SAT as flight was cancelled.

Did not fly to Houston as original flight was cancelled.

Not good. They charged an additional $70 to check a bag we had already paid for on line with Lufstansa

Amazing! The food was great! Best airline meal ever. The crew was so nice and pleasant.

The plane was crowded, seats narrow, legroom practically nonexistent. The entertainment feature didn't work for my row and nobody was able to/interested in trying to fix it. This was a direct contrast to a very comfortable Lufthansa flight I'd taken from RDU to Frankfurt about a week earlier.

Connecting from Germany with not enough time to go thru TSA and security so many times. Kayak or whomever doesn’t leave you enough time between flights. I made it with 5 min before my zone was called. Too stressful
