FAQs - booking Scotland flights

  • What are the layover cities for flights to Scotland from Halifax?

There are currently no direct flights from Halifax to Scotland, so you will have to stop at least once. You may find a one-stop journey through London with Air Canada connecting to British Airways, and there are many options with two or more layovers in cities like Montreal and London to Edinburgh with Air Canada and British Airways or Toronto and Dublin with Air Canada and Aer Lingus.

  • Will I have time to enjoy my layovers between Halifax and Scotland?

When looking at flights with more than one stop, you may see a red symbol with an exclamation mark on your KAYAK results. This could mean a self-transfer or airport change. If you fly Lufthansa to London for a connecting easyJet flight, you may need to switch from London Heathrow (LHR) to Gatwick (LGW). Flying with Air Transat and easyJet through Toronto and London may mean that you have to check in again at one or both stops. If preferred, you can use the Flight Quality filter to exclude these types of trips.

  • How many bags can I bring aboard my flight to Scotland from Halifax?

You can see the luggage allowance for fares on your KAYAK results above the fare. For example,  flying Economy with Lufthansa allows you one carry-on of up to 8 kg that is no bigger than 55 x 40 x 23 cm as well as a small personal item like a purse or backpack no bigger than 30 x 40 x 10 cm.

  • Can I collect frequent flyer miles on my flight to Scotland?

Yes. You can use the Alliance filter to limit your KAYAK search to results to include airlines in your frequent flyer programme alliance. For example, if you belong to Air Canada’s Aeroplan programme, you can select “Star Alliance” and only see flights that include partner airlines like Lufthansa, so you can accrue air miles.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from Halifax to Scotland?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from Halifax to Scotland.

  • How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy my flight ticket from Halifax to Scotland?

KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a flight to Scotland from Halifax is likely to change within 7 days, so travelers know whether to wait or book now.

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from Halifax to Scotland?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional round-trip ticket. You could then fly to Scotland with an airline and back to Halifax with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from Halifax to Scotland?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you all the options when flying to Scotland from Halifax up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. You can then pick the flights that suit you best.

United airlines was top for my last trip in every way

Horrible; seating was atrocious - inadequate leg room and seat width tight even for a small individual. Profits shouldn’t be everything!

Waited for our plane from HNL so we didn't miss connection. AMAZING Service for that, then really clean plane. Nice airline attendants.

Connection coordination with Star Alliance partner could be better. Lots of check in setup was not interlinked between operators.

There was no room in overhead bin to place our luggage despite we had tree seats. It means a lot of people had more than 1 carry on bags. When I asked a crew member to help she said that it was not her responsibility.

The plane used to go to Chicago was a bit outdated and needed a refresh

My connecting gate in .Chicago was across the aisle from my arriving gate. Otherwise I would not have made my connection. So that was very fortunate.

I flew basic economy, so it was what I expected. Crew was nice though, and flight was quick. Would recommend for flights under 6 hours, otherwise would upgrade to something with more leg room.

Bad, they delayed my flight, lost my connection flight had to stay overnight for the next flight and missed a lot of important meetings. 1 day totally lost!

Airline staff was good the checkin process was ok but the plane itself was very bad the comfort was worst it was worst and the most stiff 5 hours of my life i felt claustrophobic

We are experiencing more delays with westjet than other companies. West jet used to be our favorite airline.

Require more comfortable seats. More frequent water/beverage service. I would like better food choices. Overall, very mediocre. I now only fly WestJet when there are no other schedule options - no longer my first choice.

Excellent and a surprise as I had never heard of it before.

Agent checking me in was great. Plane was nice. Problem was with the handling of my fragile check in. They damaged my steel drum, waiting to hear back from them to see if they will take any responsibility. Think twice about travelling with something fragile, they don't seem to treat it any different than normal luggage

The flight was on time and shorter time arrival than planned. I was an ultra basic passenger and understood one personal item on the plane. The announcements of one personal item and zone 9 boarding certainly felt like we were separated from the rest. Actually zone 9 passengers should be boarded second; we are not blocking aisles and can be seated much faster and deboarded faster too.

Was a short flight, not good or bad. Extremely cramped and I'm only 6feet 1inches. 295lbs.

I had a problem checking in as I didn’t have the correct code. I had to phone BudgetAir.com. They charged me an additional 174US for some tax or something in order to provide me with my booking number. I will never use a third party seller again. Absolutely criminal activity. But I did get to where I wanted to go

Still sitting in a hotel when I'm due for work

My trip was two parts flying from Canada to ATL then to PNS I had confirmed seats with tickets at boarding in Canada and bags tagged for said flight. Got to ATL got help to plane before boarding ended and was told at the gate that I had no seats on this flight even though I had tickets that said so I was told by a supervisor with Delta that I was booked on flight 5 hours later not the one on my ticket had to sit in ATL not knowing if my bags were on flight I was booked on or the one I was told at the gate for 5 hours later or even if I would have seat on that flight as seats were to be assigned at gate. Will never recommend West Jet product and am not sure about Delta any longer and had never booked thru Kayak for flight before and will probably never again and will be sharing my experience with who ever will listen to me about it to warn them to avoid the problems I went thru.

Delays happen but communication and care were very low on what ended up being a long day.

The flight attendant, Kearin, was delightful. He was funny, friendly, and helpful. The only problem with the flight was that a door from the above baggage compartment fell off during boarding which slightly delayed takeoff.

The experience was pleasant overall, but my row was entirely missed by the snack / drinks service and the audio port for the entertainment only worked for one of my headphones due to a defective audio jack.

Overall the new aircraft’s is good and crew is good. Just overall airline policies and process needs to be better.

flip down table not clean, lots of crumbs left on table from previous customer!

Air canada always does an excellent job with business class friendly staff great food ......

Ordered the vegetarian meal. Perhaps the worst in flight meal i ever had. Soggy and sad broccoli, overcooked rice and a FROZEN cheap fruit salad.

The seats were very uncomfortable. The food was terrible. They only came around with the drink cart for dinner and breakfast. What if we needed water or something? I had to take my pills in the morning with a pop I bought from the airport. Absolutely ridiculous! Will never be flying Air Canada again after this trip!

Flights were pretty much on time. Food was the smallest bag of pretzels, movies available on the 2 hour flight but not the 4 1/2 hour flight. You have to pay for your checked baggage, not even the first one is free.

There was no entertainment on board and wi-fi did not work for me. Food consisted of beverage and pretzels. Flight was over 2 hours delayed due to unscheduled maintenance. We missed our Toronto connection. Air Canada rebooked us for the next day. We had purchased premium seats but our rebooked flight was nearly full and we did not sit together. Seats were way in the back of the plane. Air Canada did provide us with a hotel stay. Agent upon deplaning told us luggage would be sent through to our final destination. Customer service person told us our luggage would be at the carousel. It never showed up, so we lost an hour waiting for it, already well past my bedtime by now. My husband has limited mobility. Baggage agent advised us the luggage did, indeed, get placed somewhere for our next day flight and provided us with an overnight kit (shaving kit, oral hygiene kit, sleep shirt, etc.) and it was very much appreciated and needed. Husband has mobility issues and we found that wheelchair assistance is not provided during layover stops, which made it difficult (and slow) for us to get from gate to customer service to baggage claim to hotel shuttle. We were given food vouchers but were too exhausted to use them before going to hotel. For the most part, all agents we dealt with were respectful and pleasant, although only a few were as warm, friendly and helpful as most of the Canadians we had interacted with during our visit.

The jollof rice and fried plantain. Communication could have been better.

The flight crew did a good job, the main problem I had was in the layout of the pod itself. I know it does not matter but the connection for the head phones was not A- easy to find, B- very difficult to do based on the placement ( behind the right shoulder, very hard to reach, the type of plug on the frame vs the actual plug of the headphones), C due to the location and the way it connected, it did not allow me to use my own headphones, D- very low quality and very uncomfortable headphones, E- Surprisingly, very old selections of movies, for me, at least. I will still fly with Lufthansa as you deliver a very good product overall and I enjoy the quality of service, the ease and the prices. Thank you.

Swiss air was a short flight to and from Frankfurt to Geneva. The crew was nice, and the service was fine. Would be nice if they had wifi available.

my flight was cancelled. next one scheduled 2 days later. no hotel provided. worst airline experience ever

Crew had connection details for only 2 other flights and gave less than empathetic guidance.

The checkin process was horrid because of a rude staff, the crew pretty much ignored the request for a bottle of water soon after boarding. Not all the crew were bad, but there are certainly some bad apples in there. This review applies to only the Frankfurt to Dallas leg.

Missed our flight to London and we were put on coach seats to Munich.

Seats were terribly uncomfortable! Couldn’t sleep! I paid for good seats when scheduled with Lufthansa, got crappy mid-section seats on Air Canada!

Cancelled flight, that morning! But got us on an Air Canada flight!

No refreshments apart from a bottle of water. No pillows. No entertainment. Flight delayed by 52 minutes.
