FAQs - booking Australia flights

  • Does either Toronto airport have a hotel at the airport?

Yes. If you are driving into Toronto in order to catch your flight and you'd like to stay at the airport the night before your plane departs, consider checking into the Sheraton Gateway Hotel at the Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). This convenient and comfortable hotel is connected to Terminal 3 by way of a covered walkway.

  • Does Toronto Pearson have facilities and services for travelling families?

Yes. Toronto Pearson has family washrooms so that no member of the family has to be left waiting outside the door. YYZ also has an area where kids can play before the flight and Mamava lactation pods where nursing moms can have some privacy.

  • Does every flight from Toronto to Perth involve a self-transfer?

No, not all of them. However, many of the cheapest tickets from Toronto to Perth in Western Australia require you to collect your baggage and check in again when you switch airlines for the next leg of your flight. Before you book such a ticket, make sure that your itinerary leaves enough time for you to do everything you need to do in order to board your next flight.

  • Can I fly directly from Toronto to Sydney?

When you book a cheap airline ticket through KAYAK from Toronto to Sydney, it is unlikely that you will find a direct flight. However, airlines such as WestJet, Cathay Pacific, Air India, and Qantas offer one-stop flights. Layovers occur in cities such as Vancouver, Hong Kong, New Delhi, and Dallas.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from Toronto to Australia?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from Toronto to Australia.

  • How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy my flight ticket from Toronto to Australia?

KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a flight from Toronto to Australia is likely to change within 7 days, so travellers know whether to wait or book now.

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from Toronto to Australia?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional round-trip ticket. You could then fly from Toronto to Australia with an airline and back with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from Toronto to Australia?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you all the options when flying from Toronto to Australia up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. You can then pick the flights that suit you best.

Top tips for finding cheap flights to Australia

  • High season is considered to be January, November and December. The cheapest month to fly from Toronto is May.
  • Morning departure is around 4% more expensive than an evening flight, on average*.
  • When you book a cheap airline ticket through KAYAK from Toronto to Australia, you will most likely be leaving from the Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), the largest international airport in Toronto. However, some cheap flights also depart from the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ). This much smaller airport is situated on the Toronto Islands, off the southern coast of the city.
  • If you want to fly from Toronto to Adelaide, the capital of South Australia, you will most likely be landing at the Adelaide International Airport (ADL). Any cheap tickets you can book through KAYAK from Toronto to ADL will usually have at least two stops. Some of the most affordable tickets available depart from Billy Bishop (YTZ) and stop in Montreal and Doha.
  • When you are flying from Toronto to Darwin at the tip of Northern Territory, there might be a cheaper way to get there than booking a ticket from Toronto to Darwin. The combined price of these tickets can often be cheaper than one booking from YYZ to DRW.
  • Cheap airline tickets from Toronto to Melbourne vary greatly in terms of price, the number of stops, and duration. Make sure to take into account all of these factors. For instance, flights from Toronto to Melbourne can differ in duration by as much as a full day. That is to say, some flights from Toronto to Melbourne are more than 24 hours longer than others.
  • When you're waiting for your flight to Australia at Toronto Pearson YYZ, you might get a chance to interact with the airport’s therapy dogs. The St. John Ambulance Therapy Dogs and their trained handlers roam Departures in order to offer delight, comfort, or solace to passengers waiting to fly.

Nothing special short flight - all good - difference between 1 fudge and 2 fudge is obligation and thankfulness

The flight we had booked was cancelled due to bad weather conditions, but we were lucky to arrive at the airport quite early and got a seat on an earlier flight. The flight was mostly nice, but there were some hefty turbulences towards Queenstown. One of the passengers behaved hysterically. It would have been great if the crew had done something to calm her.

Sitting in an aisle seat equals getting hit by food cart and spilled on multiple times Food: gross and minimalistic Crew: frumpy and kurt Sound on multiple entertainment platforms poor Not an earplug problem, system soundboard poor

Major hassle with the weight of carryon luggage Having to repack bags at airport Not an issue in most of world Ridiculous issue considering the 400 pound gentleman sitting behind us

Overall experience was poor. In general crew was polite in speaking but that was all about it. I am vegetarian so I always carry a cup noodle box with me just in case. So I pressed "CALL" button for hot water for my cup noodle on my seat and waited for 10-15 minutes but nobody came. I personally took the box and went all the way to back of the plane. When I requested stewardess to put hot water in my cup noodle she refused as it was a "safety" hazard. I told her that you always serve coffee and tea these are also hot. But she still refused. I went back to my seat and from the seat I ordered hot water and it was brought to me without any problem. I poured THAT hot water in my cup noodle and ate. I was sitting in seat 36A, which was 2nd row in economy class. After eating my noodle I took the box and went 2 rows in the front where there was a kitchen to throw it. Again the stewardess there told me she didn't have a waste bin there and asked me to go back of the plane and throw it there. Tell me if above experiences are 'ok' for your airline??

Everything very good except the sofa couch not as comfortable as expected.

Wonderful Airlines…our American Airlines could learn from ANZ. From boarding to landing everyone was professional and gracious. Kiwi’s really are the nicest of all people! Thank you

typical long haul economy flight. Food was mediocre, inflight service was average. Offered in flight snacks but in seat ordering didn't work. Entertainment was good.

Would have been nice to have decaf coffee as an option, and perhaps a scone

Overall, a great experience from food and crew. The only setback was that this was the Second flight from Air New Zealand within a week that was an hour late for boarding.

I have a Peanut Allergy and the Steward staff were very accommodating in ensuring my safety as my allergy is life threatening. Very professional and so vested in their profession.

Crew was great. But a bit understaffed. The business class seat, etc were dated. But comfortable. Some legs had entertainment system from a decade ago. Selections were rather poor. Food was mediocre at best. Actually poor for business class standards. I liked the lounge in Hong Kong. Showers were great. Food was nice.

Overall, it was ok. However, the food was very sub-par.

It was okay overall but the food was very, very bad.

Fast boarding flight on time boarded plane back to front instead of stupid zone groups like US airlines do...

Food was hood for airline food with good poftion and variety in meals. Frequency of beverage service was very low and amount of soda with meals was inadequate.

no veg food was provided eventhough i pre ordered special meal

Excellent service provided the flight crew. Food and drinks were very good.

Meal options for vegetarians can be provided… Nothing was offered for me for dinner.. crew just said no vegetarian option available and did even bother to provide any alternatives or something to eat.

I was really impressed with the experience it was my first trip overseas. Nice staff

It’s a two prop flight so I had problems with my ears on re- entering ! But otherwise fine

I love flying with Qantas. There was no onscreen entertaining on this flight, and only a snack provided (not a meal) but still better than Jetstar or Virgin (in my opinion) so still happy.

The food was terrible. And the flight attendants were very rude. One flight attendant wouldn’t help a passenger lift their carry-on. Another flight attendant wouldn’t give a man an extra blanket. And they walked by not even looking at the passengers to see if they needed a glass of water.

Wheelchair assistance to move through the terminals and to/from the plane door was excellent. No vegan snack on the flight, only something with salami and cheese in it.

I have flown Qantas multiple times in the past it seemed this flight the plane had less seat room or the seats were way less comfortable than before. Everything else was about the same. Thanks

The old Plane had not been cleaned properly in a long time.

I got upgraded from economy to business, and the experience was outstanding

Boarding was over 3 hrs late and we didn’t land until almost 1:30am

I disliked the fact that they forced people to put up their seats during meal service

Headphone jacks worked poorly, seat recline was broken. Planes were rundown.

Plane 3 hours late. Missed connection. No help from gate staff. App horrible. Lost connection repeatedly. No service desk. Finally got help from young girl driving cart.

Not as good as expected Air Can needs to improve totally rated on internet as worst

Smooth flight. As always dinner could have been more generous. Breakfast was great.

AWFUL. I have had the experience of traveling with many airlines across the world, and hands down United Airlines is the worst. Not one flight was on time, and I don’t think I met one crew member or staff member who wasn’t rude.

The flight was delayed, it took longer than anticipated because of weather, and they broke my luggage.

Everything was good. Flight was on time, luggage pickup was quick. The staff were great. Could not ask for anything more.

lots of delays the crew were unclear about where to pick up my carry-on, which they took from me to check in on the plane.

They needed people to check a bag, they did check my bag and I had to wait 10 minutes after the flight to get it it wasn’t too bad

HORRIBLE WITH THEIR WEBSITE!!! WORST WEBSITE IN THE WHOLE AIRLINE INDUSTRY

It was 4 hours late. Almost missed my connecting flight no food or drinks on connecting flight. Overall terrible experience

Flight was delayed 24 hours, then delayed again first was mechanical and second was weather.

My flight was cancelled and I was left to figure out where to find a hotel, something to eat and how to get a new flight at 11:30pm. Wasted a day. Thanks, Air Canada!

flight was delayed 6 hours for weather, then cancelled because of the crash in toronto, but none of the links to cancel or rebook my flights are working

Air Canada cancelled my flight and did not issue a refund. Air Canada does not accept phone calls to their customer service line 888.247.2262 for rebooking. Aircanada.com is down.

Efficient board despite a 100% sold out flight. It’s crowded on the plane but crew was working hard to get us off the ground on time and served dinner and breakfast. Food was good.

They kept changing the gate (6 times in 30 minutes) and then left us on the plane for 4 hours before departure. Likely was the storm, which is understandable, but the lack of communication and the e constant running between gates at opposite ends of the airport really threw me and my friend for a loop.

Legitimately everything about this flight was awful, was also so delayed I never want to use air Canada again

Terrible all around. Flight was late and airplane was very uncomfortable. The crew were unhelpful and hid in the back. Did zero work. No entertainment.

Seats to small and crowded ....way too many additional charges. No effort to make customer feel valued

We were about an hour late on take off and then, after we pulled up to the terminal at YVR they couldn’t open the door of the plane.
