FAQs - booking Ireland flights

  • Which Toronto airport is more convenient for an entire family who is travelling to Ireland?

On one hand, the Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) provides more facilities for families. Some of these include family washrooms, Mamava lactation pods for nursing mothers, and an indoor playground where kids can entertain themselves and burn off some energy. On the other hand, the Billy Bishop Airport (YTZ) is smaller and more likely quicker and easier to navigate.

  • Does either Toronto Airport have a hotel on site?

Yes. If you want to stay at the airport the night before your transatlantic flight to Ireland, consider booking into the Sheraton Gateway Hotel at Toronto Pearson (YYZ). This hotel is conveniently connected to Terminal 3 by way of a walkway that is both covered and comfortable.

  • Are there any direct flights from Toronto to Dublin?

Yes. Both Aer Lingus and British Airways offer direct flights that depart from Toronto Pearson (YYZ) and land at Dublin Airport (DUB). Airlines such as Icelandair, Air Transat, Delta, and TAP AIR PORTUGAL offer flights from Toronto to Dublin with one stop in cities such as Reykjavik, London, New York, and Lisbon.

  • Where can I fly into in order to get the feel of a quaint Irish village?

You might want to consider flying into the Shannon Airport (SNN), located in the small town of Shannon in County Clare. From this Irish village, you can visit breathtaking cliffs, a 15th century castle, a 19th century village replica, and the recreation of a Bronze Age settlement.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from Toronto to Ireland?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from Toronto to Ireland.

  • How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy my flight ticket from Toronto to Ireland?

KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a flight to Ireland from Toronto is likely to change within 7 days, so travelers know whether to wait or book now.

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from Toronto to Ireland?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional round-trip ticket. You could then fly to Ireland with an airline and back to Toronto with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from Toronto to Ireland?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you all the options when flying to Ireland from Toronto up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. You can then pick the flights that suit you best.

Top tips for finding cheap flights to Ireland

  • Morning departure is around 8% cheaper than an evening flight, on average*.
  • Cheap airline tickets from Toronto to Ireland will usually have Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) as the departure airport. The largest airport in Toronto, YYZ is located toward the west of the city. Some flights also depart from the much smaller Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ), located on Toronto Islands, closer to the heart of the city.
  • When you want to fly from Toronto to Cork in southern Ireland, you'll be landing at Cork Airport (ORK). Some of the most affordable tickets entail two or three stops on airlines such as Aer Lingus, Air Canada, Air Transat, British Airways, and others.
  • If you want to fly into Northwest Ireland, consider booking a flight into the city of Knock. You'll be landing at the Ireland West Airport Knock (NOC). Some of the cheapest tickets from Toronto to NOC depart from the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ).
  • When you book a cheap airline ticket through KAYAK from Toronto to Ireland, you might find a flight that entails an airport change in a layover city. For example, you might have to switch from Newark Airport to JFK when you stop in New York City on the way to Dublin. Before you book such a ticket, make sure your itinerary has enough time and that you have enough foreign currency in order to make the required journey from one airport to the other.
  • As you wait for your plane to Dublin at Toronto Pearson (YYZ), feel free to take time to enjoy the art that is on display in the airport. Terminal 1 offers a dinosaur exhibition, large sculptures, and featured artwork in a rotating exhibit. Terminal 3 offers a film exposition created by the Toronto International Film Festival.

I was pleasantly surprised. I booked the "club class" which was basically like Domestic First Class. The service was superior. Food was pretty good. Seats and cabin were comfortable. For the price I paid, I was very pleased.

Super unproffesional flight . Flight attendants were unproffesional. I could hear them gossiping about theor boyfriends the whole trip

The connecting flight lay over was 4.00 hours, the gate agent booked me on the next flight which was about to depart at no extra cost.

Actually the flight was on time. New plane, food was okay but not great.

Old plane, hard seats, 1.30 hours delay, while seating on the plane waiting for departure.

Great boarding. Everything was on time. Plane was a bit old and the crew could have provided better drink service.

Boarding was a little chaotic but it was a very large flight. It just wasn’t fast. And there was no noticeable difference between zones boarding.

Crew was pleasant. Aircraft was very dated and uncomfortable for our nearly 4 hour flight. We were in row 17 and they ran out of purchasable food by the time they got to us.

We were lucky enough to arrive at the right time. The staff at YYZ did our complete check in and luggage tags for us. Even made sure we knew where we were to head next and how to get there. It truly was one of the best and easiest check inside. Thanks team.

Compagnie efficace et bons prix. Les sièges en classe club pourraient être plus confortables.

The Priority check in in Toronto rivalled the poorest I've experienced. The young woman at the desk (7:30 AM, YYZ) was unfriendly and abrupt, behaving as though we were interrupting her day. Her inch long fingernails said it all....I really don't belong here. Other than that, WestJet personnel provided a good travel experience, especially in flight. I must say that the repeated announcements about the cabin being full and how folks should gate check their bags became tedious. WestJet should just offer free checked luggage and charge for carry on suitcases. It would save a lot of time and the voices of the gate agents.

It was very, very cold extremely uncomfortable almost unbearable I was sitting at the front of the cabin

Nice smooth flight with pleasant stewards. Slept most of the flight, they could have slowly turned on the lights to make it more pleasant. Otherwise a good trip.

Great! No food was available during the flight due to the catering service strike but snacks were given throughout the flight which was nice.

I wish that seats closer to the front of the plan were available, but when I booked the flight the seats were VERY expensive so I did not book seats at that time. The day before flying only seats at the back of the plane were available. It takes so long to board the plane and empty the plane on arrival due to SO many roller bags.

Crew was rude.didn’t even say hi or welcome to board

Nothing special. Unacceptable wait for baggage on arriving in Calgary

Departure delay on a late night flight. Made us even later. Tired but got home.

Westjet forced me to put my carry-on baggage in check-in probably because I was assigned seat 23A (the last row seat), which had no cabin space, which is unfair. I wanted to carry on my luggage so that I don't have to wait at the airport for my luggage. Also, because there was no cabin space, I was forced to keep my laptop bag under the seat, which I didn't want to as I was carrying 2 laptops and charger. The airline should basically tell people that if you are assigned a last row seat, then you are not allowed a cabin baggage or a personal item.

Easy processing, flight time was quick and staff was professional and kind.

Flyplay is the only way I travel to Europe. Had a 15 hr layover in Iceland. Normally this would suck, but I regret a car and saw the black sand beaches, several waterfalls and sky lagoon. And finished with lamb at cafe Loki.

did not get the seats we had specially paid for

This is a no frills airline. You cant expect much for the price. Low cost flight, clean, nice staff. That's all I need for the price. If you want more, book with another airline and pay more. For Europe trips, PLAY is the ONLY airline I use

Misleading instructions for check in. Although I did virtual check in and was instructed to head to security, once I was at security, they told me to go back to Play ticket counter and get paper tickets. Also, beware that Play doesn’t participate in TSA PreCheck. I didn’t know that, despite entering PreCheck info when I purchased the tickets. I wasted time in the TSA PreCheck line as well. So we had two setbacks at check in.

It's a budget airline, so forewarned is forearmed. Yes, you pay for everything like carry-on, checked baggage, seat selection, but that's becoming the case with major airlines. Bringing your own snacks and entertainment on board is highly recommended. It's no frills, but the crew, the plane and the flight itself was great. If you want pampering go for a larger airline. If you just want to get from A to B in comfort and safety, Play is a great choice.

It is a low cost airline. Staff are courteous. There is no entertainment. Food is purchased.

Upon boarding, the people at the gate were extremely rude, there were no outlets on a 6 hour international flight, there was no entertainment, all food and drink was purchase only (even snacks), and my seat reclining function was fully broken. The only redeeming quality was the flight attendants were extremely nice. This was by far the worst flight I have ever been on in my entire life

I don’t know how international flights can’t have media screens to keep people entertained for the long flight. Ugh.

Typical experience for budget airline. Boarding from KEF required bus transit from the gate to plane, so if you had "priority boarding" it was useless as it was simply a free-for-all when getting off the bus. But still no issues with getting our luggage into overhead bin so not really a problem.

Was very apprehensive about flying Play, but the flight was fine. Nothing special, nothing horrible. Fair price to get from New York to Iceland.

Are Longus was fine. I booked thru Kayak and was unable to get my business class seat early. Sat next to galley. Crew forgot to wake me for breakfast.

I was pleasantly surprised - it has been awhile since I traveled with them - other than being delayed leaving Malaga everything ran very smoothly- yes I would travel with aer Lingus again and yes I would recommended

I loved how they arrange boarding (starting with people seated in back and moving to the front). Flight crew was very polite and welcoming. Seating was ok, I felt like there was enough leg space however it is noticeable when the passenger in front of you sets their seat back.

Flight staff very friendly and helpful where possible. Late flight and travelling with young child, cabin lights remained on for the duration of the flight which was a little disappointing considering the time of the flight. Overall very happy to travel with Aer Lingus.

Nice to be on a flight that wasn't fully booked so there were only two of us in the three seat row.

The only problem was there are games on the entertaiment system. The guy behind me played poker the entire time and poking the back of my seat. I hope they remove these.

Delayed due to weather... fine. But then the board us. Rows 15 and back had to go down the stairs and back up the back stair entrance to the plane. No assistance offered. Then they inform us that we are delayed for paperwork for an hour. So why did we board? Then, about 45min later they inform us that it'll be another 60-90mins. Really? No wifi, no seat entertainment, no drink or snacks offered. And we were not allowed to deboard.

Great travel. Wonderful experience. Hope to do it again in the near future. God willing

Aer Lingus doesn't have plug ins for devices at each seat. They also did not give me a dairy free meal as requested and confirmed by staff. It was as if I had not requested anything. Otherwise, they were great!

There were a lot of empty rows. As a single passenger I should not have been seated with 2 others. The WiFi didn’t work. The Kosher meal was awful.

I was seated next to someone who was, to be polite, not a small person. I had to press myself against the wall as I had no personal space. Aside from that the crew was wonderful and they got me home safely, which is the most important part of my journey. I am very appreciative to your air crews for the job they have, which isn't easy, and appreciative of the fact that they are professional and courteous. The employees I encountered on my journey, with the few exceptions I mentioned in a previous review, are a credit to Air Canada.

Air Canada had a lot of delays on our flight going back to Seattle. So much inconvenience for a long trip.

The Carry-on luggage that approved by TSA and all other airlines,- always an issue with Air Canada. This is inappropriate as my carry on suitcase meets the requirements however it always asked to check in on AC flight on the gate. Yes I have it for free, but it takes extra time to pick up on the carousel. Apparently it fit the overhead space, so why AC has this issue all the time?

Too many notifications. Non of which were useful. 4 hours before traveling we discovered that we needed a transit visa. That's useful information. Air Canada should flag and keep flagging that up. Then the useless too much information had us go to Paris not Brussels. Chaos involving the customer. We will try never to use AC again.

The terminal this flight boarded from was so far away, poorly temperature controlled, and generally uncomfortable. The plane was small but the flight was short, so it wasn't so bad.

My flight was canceled and next one was 1 hour later. The gate was changed 3 times.

We did not have seat assigned until almost the very end of boarding and my husband and I did not sit together I don’t know why even though we bought tickets 3 months in advance and checked in very early. We were not standby and we were treated as we had stand by tickets. I will never fly Air Canada again.

Terrible 3-4-3 seat configuration, I thankfully was able to choose a seat at the back where it narrowed to 2-4-2 for some relief though seats were still narrow. Staff did not manage the boarding lines at all either, was total chaos.

Seriously need to improve the time schedule and the plans

Great TV, easy boarding, wonderful ground crew and flight crew.
